Come and visit Toowoomba's hidden gem. Located on Mutze Street opposite Toowoomba's airport terminal, the Transport and Main Roads Heritage Centre engages visitors with exciting exhibitions that provide a fascinating insight into the department's contributions to the economic, social and rural development of Queensland.

Visitors can travel through exhibitions showcasing the story of a department rich in history and culture. Displays cover a diverse range of themes from Aboriginal pathways, surveying and camp life to modern design, construction and maintenance. Discover this road planning, construction and design history

through objects, text, photos, DVD presentations and interesting oral history excerpts. The museum offers the perfect opportunity to reflect and celebrate the journey of those who have helped shape the state.

Children will meet an array of characters along their dedicated children's trail and 'experience' aspects of road construction history through interactive exercises. Machinery enthusiasts can enjoy the marvellous vehicles and road-building equipment on display. At event open days the whole family can experience external displays coming to life with demonstrations of blacksmithing, bridge pile driving and road construction machinery.

The museum is proud to show how hard work and a pioneering spirit have helped create today's road network that connects Queensland.

There is an exciting children's trail in the museum where cartoon characters invite inquisitiveness and exploration of subjects through active learning and hands on experiences.

The Centre is totally accessible to people with disabilities with ramps where necessary and appropriate toilet facilities.

Set in the dynamic environment of Toowoomba's newest museum, this venue offers conference/meeting facilities with a twist. Offer your participants the chance for a unique experience, combining their meeting/conference with an opportunity to explore the history of Transport and Main Roads and its contributions to the economic, social and rural development of Queensland.

The onsite technical equipment includes a data projector with wireless connectivity to a laptop, a DVD player with excellent 5.1 audio system, a lectern, and a wireless pointers/remote control

How To Get There:
Travelling west from the city centre, follow the Warrego Highway along James and Tor Streets. Turn left along Taylor Street until you reach Greenwattle Street. Turn right, follow Greenwattle Street to the end and turn left into Mutze Street. The Transport and Main Roads Heritage Centre is on the left, directly opposite the Toowoomba Airport Terminal and carpark.

Further Details:
A kitchenette is accessible from the theatre with tea and coffee making facilities, including an urn and bar fridge. If you require catering, please make your own arrangements. Their friendly staff will be able to assist you.
