Explore Whitsundays Sail Training teaches you to learn to sail in Australia's premier sailing ground, the Whitsunday Islands. The Explore Whitsundays Sail Training conducts various maritime courses. Their Sail Training courses work for participants, whether they are learning for recreational or commercial purposes and meet the National Standards for Commercial Vessels (NSCV).

All the crew are qualified professionals, providing guests with gourmet meals and sharing their knowledge of the local ecology. Guests are given the opportunity to have a 'hands on' experience by helping the crew with the workings of the yacht. Courses available are the three day two night Introduction to Sailing, six day five night Commercial Crew Certificate, or a 23 Day program designed for people looking to start a career in the marine charter industry, Sail Learn to Earn. Along with the theory and practice, time is made available to explore the fringing coral, coves, harbours, inlets, beaches and bays of the beautiful Whitsunday Islands, plus visit to the magnificent Whitehaven Beach.

Introductory Sailing Course - 3 Days

Along with completing the sail training theory and practice on board, the itinerary includes time to explore the magnificent Whitsunday Islands, swimming, snorkelling, beach visits. All courses come with course notes and certificates.

The Whitsunday Marine Academy is International Yachtmaster Training (IYT) approved. IYT is for recreational and commercial qualification and is recognised in 26 countries. The Intro to Sail Course is a fun practical way to introduce participants to the overall running of a yacht, including safety, regulations and manoeuvres.

The course includes the intro to sail component, then continues on covering Nautical Knowledge, Seamanship, Boat Handling, Engineering, Weather, Passage Planning and Navigation.

Sail Learn to Earn - 23 Days

Designed for the Working Holiday Visitor and those seeking a career in Marine Tourism. The 23 day course includes, six day five nights International Crew Certificate (IYT), 12 nights as extra crew on their Maxi Yachts, six nights accommodation (dormitory style) in Airlie Beach, 17 days of meals, Crew uniforms, tuition, notes, Log Book and Certificate. After completion of course a meeting will be arranged with their Human Resource Manager, successful candidates may be employed.

The itinerary includes time to explore the magnificent Whitsunday Islands, swimming, snorkelling, beach visits. Note: meals are not included when staying in Airlie Beach.
