Kuranda Classic Experience

Kuranda Scenic Railway passing Stoney Creek Falls

Take in two of North Queensland's must-see attractions in one magical trip. Board the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway and journey through the rainforest enjoying breathtaking scenery. During the journey you will travel in comfort while informed commentary outlines the history of this triumph of engineering. Leisurely explore Kuranda, the famous 'village in a rainforest' you will discover many shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes and an assortment of art and craft stalls in the Heritage and Original markets.

Glide above the canopy of World Heritage rainforest on Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and learn more about this ancient ecosystem. Enjoy stunning, panoramic views from the comfort of a six-person gondola. Along the way discover Red Peak Station and informative boardwalk and Barron Falls Station which features an interactive Rainforest Interpretation Centre.

Kuranda Scenic Railway departs daily from Cairns Station: 8:30am and 9:30am, from Freshwater Station: 8:50am and 9:50am then returns in the afternoon daily from Kuranda Station: 2:00pm and 3:30pm.

Your journey takes 1 hour and 50 minutes from Cairns Station to Kuranda Station or 1 hour 20 minutes from Freshwater to Kuranda Station and includes a 10 minute stop at Barron Falls Station.

Allow 1 hour and 30 minutes for your Skyrail experience.

Follow the path of the Dreamtime legend of Buda-dji as the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway takes you along the Barron Gorge to Kuranda, the famous 'village in the rainforest'. Return over the rainforest canopy with Skyrail Rainforest Cableway then more about the Dreamtime and traditional owners of the Barron Gorge at Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park. Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park enables guests to immerse themselves in Aboriginal culture with authentic music, dance and storytelling by the Tjapukai people. The world's oldest living culture is brought to life by Aboriginal performers who engage guests with interactive activities such as didgeridoo playing, face painting and boomerang throwing and educate them about the Cairns and Great Barrier Reef's traditional rainforest people. The historic Kuranda Scenic Railway will take you to Kuranda, the famous 'village in the rainforest'. Explore the village before a coach transfer to Rainforestation Nature Park. Set on 100 acres of World Heritage Rainforest, this unique tourist attraction is situated five minutes travel from Kuranda Village. This eco-friendly Kuranda attraction hosts Army Duck Rainforest Tours (with Tropical Fruit Orchard), Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience and Kuranda's largest Koala and Wildlife Park. Experience the tropical rainforest from a totally unique perspective - aboard an amphibious World War II Army Duck. See fascinating plants and wildlife as you pass by, before splashing into the lake for a cruise.
