Designed for international travellers, interstate visitors and locals wishing to learn more about the Aboriginal history of the region.

Jellurgal Dreaming includes an informative overview in the "Dreaming Amphitheatre". Depart the centre for a brief bus trip to David Fleays Wildlife Park, where you can see Australian native wildlife such as kangaroos, koalas, crocodiles and brolgas in their native habitat. Wander along the pristine mangrove boardwalk and learn about the importance of these coastal tracts to the Aboriginal people. Return To Jellurgal for a mesmerising, authentic Aboriginal corroboree and traditional fire starting demonstration.

You begin your Jellurgal trek with an ancient smoking ceremony and ochre anointment on the beach at Burleigh Cove, performed by members of the local Yugambeh tribe. Visit the midden and other significant Aboriginal sites along the way. The Jellurgal trek takes 45 minutes but there is an option to return to the Centre at the Midden, 15 minutes into the Tour.

The Jellurgal Dreaming tour includes lunch and refreshments at Jingi Cafe, located at the Centre.

In the rare circumstances of cancellation or postponement; Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre reserves the right to cancel or postpone any of its programs and / or tours free of liability on its part, for any cause for which it deems the suspension necessary, for passenger safety or to protect the Company's interests. As a consequence, entitlement to a full refund will be given. Bookings terms and conditions upon confirmation: if you cancel for any reason, your deposit is non- refundable. If cancellation is made within seven days of the booking, 50 per cent of the total booking amount will be charged. If cancellation is made within 48 hours of the booking, 75 per cent of the total booking amount will be charged, and if cancellation is made within 24 hours of the booking 100 per cent of the total booking will be charged. Pricing of products are correct at the time of entering information, however, Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Tours and Information Hub reserve the right to change prices without prior notice.

Hotel Pick-up:
Hotel Pick-up is available, 8.00am pick up from most Gold Coast accommodation. 3.00pm day before cut off on pick up.

Weather:
At their discretion in the event of inclement weather as safety needs to be in the forefront of their minds if conditions are less than ideal they will be happy to re-schedule the tour to a date and time suitable to you, the customer. They are not obligated to refund if conditions are not to your liking.

Jellurgal Journey

Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Tours & Information Hub

Your morning begins at Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre at 11.30am with a live Aboriginal Dance performance after which you begin your Jellurgal trek with an ancient smoking ceremony and ochre anointment on the beach at Burleigh Cove, performed by members of the local Yugambeh tribe. The Jellurgal trek takes 45 minutes where you will visit the midden and other significant Aboriginal sites along the way. Your journey ends back at Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre where your welcome to come in and visit the Jellurgal gift shop or enjoy a coffee at Jingi Cafe.

Welcome to Yugambeh Country

Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Tours & Information Hub

Designed for international travellers, interstate visitors and locals wishing to learn more about the Aboriginal history of their region, Welcome to Yugambeh Country is a exclusive 2.5 - 3 hour private tour incorporating three sites: Kombumerri Park (Aboriginal burial ground at Merrimac), Jebbribillum Bora (the Bora Ring at Burleigh Heads) and a half hour walk around Jellurgal (Burleigh Headland) for up to seven people.

The exclusive private guided tour includes informative commentary about the history and culture of the Yugambeh people, narrated by an experienced and knowledgeable local Aboriginal guide. Commentary will cover stories and legends pertaining to the areas visited, ecological practices of Aborigines, cultural awareness and cross-cultural sensitivity, and the relevance of native flora and fauna to local Aborigines who inhabited the area thousands of years ago.

The tour will also includes entertainment by Aboriginal dancers and lunch at Jingi Cafe located at Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Welcome to Yugambeh Country runs three days a week from Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Tours & Information Hub.
