Children:
Special rates apply for day walks and packages for children four years to 13 years. Infants zero to three years are no charge. There are no special rates for the night walk and children under eight are generally not accepted. Walks are usually two hours in duration and fairly easy walking; however parents must ensure that their children remain on the path ad that they do not interrupt during discussions. Children are given encouragement to participate and are valued as keen spotters.

Disabled:
Cooper Creek Wilderness is natural rainforest. There are no modifications to accommodate physical disability that requires wheelchair access. National parks provide boardwalks with full access. A reasonable level of fitness is required; however walks are leisurely with emphasis on interpretation and appreciation. Access may be unsuitable for persons with limited mobility; wildlife behaviour and fauna sightings are unpredictable. Participants need to accept the risks and uncertainties associated with a genuine wilderness experience.

Further Details:
This is a real rainforest product. No boardwalks, no man-made constructions to interfere with the beauty and grandeur of nature at its best. Their forest has not been modified to allow wheel-chair access and the natural environment does not suit people who want to keep their shoes dry.
The rewards are in an amazing and unique rainforest and the wildlife that you may encounter. They recommend that you do both day and night tours to gain a better appreciation of the partnerships that exist in a balanced environment.
All of the walks and tours are ecologically sustainable. Your payments contribute to the management and conservation of the sacred heart of the Daintree Rainforest. Cooper Creek Wilderness has advanced eco-tourism accreditations for all its products and offers genuine eco-tourism that supports the environment and the local community.

CCW1 Grand Fan Palm Gallery Day Tour

Daintree Rainforest

Only Cooper Creek Wilderness can provide access to the Grand Fan Palm Galleries of the Daintree Rainforest.

Visitors to the Daintree need to search out the very heart of the forest, directly below the central mountain, Thornton Peak where the inspirational beauty of unique fan palm galleries is complemented by the most diverse and primitive rainforest in the Daintree. All walks are in small exclusive groups with an expert local guide.

Cooper Creek Wilderness occupies the centrepiece of the solitary place on the planet where two World Heritage properties unite in a masterpiece of natural and cultural splendour. The structural integrity of the entire landscape is built around an anchorage of densely packed trees of varying diameter; mostly with exaggerated buttress roots. Contiguous crowns are knitted into an interconnected whole by comprehensive networks of vine.

Expert Interpretation will give you the Aboriginal Cultural history and show that Ecotourism is the only way to protect and conserve this magnificent global treasure.

CCW2 2 Hour Nocturnal Wildlife Tours

Daintree Rainforest

The greatest opportunity to observe some of Australia's most unique wildlife in natural habitat occurs after nightfall. Temperature, rainfall and moonlight all have profound effects on wildlife behaviour. The most ideal conditions occur on the hottest, wettest and darkest nights. By contrast, brightly moonlit nights in the middle of the cooler, drier periods confer significantly greater challenges. Cooper Creek Wilderness night walks ethically immerse the traveller into the very depths of the world's oldest surviving rainforest. There are no artificial structures linked to the security of a roadside car park. Inhabitant guides select a different trail on successive nights to showcase the authenticity of the nocturnal landscape and particularly in terms of its habitat values.

CCW4 Combination Tour, Evening Meal and Night Walks Package

Daintree Rainforest

A mere one per cent of travellers to the Cape Tribulation Daintree Rainforest successfully negotiate their way through the protective barrier that conceals the old-growth Gondwanan forests of Cooper Creek Wilderness. Guided, interpreted day tours reveal an extraordinary intellectual property, which amplifies the profundity of nature's masterpiece.

Similarly, nocturnal tours reveal dimensions of global significance that are invariably hidden during daylight hours. Access to the inner-secrets of a forbidden forest will always be an elusive undertaking, but no greater determination can be made than to consider the combination of both a day tour and a nocturnal foray. Each walk issues perspective upon the other to significantly broaden the horizons of an exceptionally complex ecosystem.
