Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park is Australia's most awarded attraction and the only Aboriginal experience providing a direct benefit to the local Aboriginal People. Situated on 25 acres of land north of Cairns, this multi award-winning centre is a stunning theatrical interpretation of Aboriginal culture.

Tjapukai represents part of Australia's Aboriginal face abroad, working closely with Tourism Australia and Tourism Queensland, and is often called upon by journalists and documentary film makers seeking information on the 40,000 year old culture it represents.

Open Times:Tjapukai by Day is open daily from 0900 to 1700. Tjapukai by Night is open every night from 1900 to 2200. (Tjapukai is closed Christmas Day).

Children: All attractions within the park are suitable for children. Specially designed children's packages are very popular also with school groups: *Boomerang Painting Program, *Face Painting Program, *Special Schools Programs, *Vacation Care Program. * Additional cost to be booked in advance.
Disabled: Disabled access to all theatres and activities, restaurant, and amenities. A wheelchair is available.
Miscellaneous:
As part of a tour, local bus service, self-drive, taxi, booked transfer. A Tjapukai Shuttle service is available from Cairns, Northern Beaches and Port Douglas. This service can be booked directly through the Tjapukai Sales and Reservations.

Within the Creation and History Theatres filming and photography are not permitted. Swimming is not permitted in the Lakes. All media visits must be accompanied by a member of Marketing Department.

Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park has received over 25 awards nationally and internationally these include some of the industry's most prestigious accolades such as the Australian Tourism Award for excellence which the park has been honoured with four times. The empowerment for the Tjapukai community extends even further. With the Aboriginal tribal councils being the park's majority shareholders, ensuring that the benefits of the park are conferred directly back to the people, the bama, of the rainforest.

Tjapukai by Day is open from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. allowing visitors to experience every facet of this ancient culture; from the provocative History Theatre, the inspiring Creation Theatre and the original Dance Theatre to an interactive village camp where visitors can learn about bush food and medicine, didgeridoo playing and boomerang throwing. Guide dogs for the visually impaired are allowed.

Tjapukai by Night open from 7.00 p.m. for a prompt start at 7.30 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. is a specially crafted evening that offers you the chance to experience Tjapukai Aboriginal culture in the most powerful and personal way. From the moment you arrive, an evocative Aboriginal spirit vibrates through you. Rather than simply being a member of the audience, events such as the haunting spirit welcome and the lakeside fire ceremony will ensure that you feel like a privileged participant. The evening culminates in a sumptuous five star dinner, complete with a performance by the World Famous Tjapukai Dancers.

Tjapukai By Day: For the first time an entire park has been dedicated to preserving and presenting authentic Aboriginal Culture with the aid of the most modern technology. Tjapukai boasts three theatres, a traditional camp, museum, retail gallery and a buffet restaurant. The park provides visitors with a meaningful glimpse of a rich and ancient culture.

Tjapukai By Night: Come and join the traditional people of this land, in a specially crafted evening that lets you learn not only about Tjapukai Aboriginal Culture, but also experience it in the most powerful and personal way. Fire explosions, spectacular special effects, music and dance as giant spirits come to life and take you on a Dreamtime journey. The evening finishes with a sumptuous buffet dinner and performances by the World Famous Tjapukai Dancers.

Tjapukai is located approximately 15 kilometres from Cairns heading north on the Captain Cook Highway. Turn left at the Redlynch/Freshwater roundabout; the entrance to the park can be seen from the road. Tjapukai and Skyrail are located next door to each other only minutes walk away.
