Salt Water Murris - Quandamooka Art Gallery is predominately comprised of artists who are direct descendents of the original Nunukul, Ngugi and Gorenpul clans of the Moreton Bay (Quandamooka) region.
Each artwork in the gallery tells a story depicted through the combination of design and colour special to the beautiful surrounds of the Quandamooka people and they provide a window into the history and lives and the environment of the people and of the region.
The Aboriginal people are the custodians of the land and the Quandamooka people have lived on the Island for over 20,000 years. SWMQ is the prime Aboriginal Arts organisation on North Stradbroke Island dedicated to promoting and sharing local Aboriginal culture and art.
The Quandamooka People have lived on and have been the Custodians.
