Raging Thunder Adventures pioneered rafting in Queensland, Australia in 1984. Since then they have expanded their product range to include a series of adventure tours suitable for all levels of excitement including White Water Rafting on the Tully and Barron Rivers, Sea Kayaking, Hot Air ballooning. They also have a range of extended packages suitable for the independent traveller. These packages incorporate tours throughout Northern Queensland.

Raging Thunder Adventures pioneered rafting in Queensland, Australia in 1984. Their first commercial trip on the Tully River consisted of three nervous passengers. Since then they have expanded our product range to include a series of adventure tours suitable for all levels of excitement includes white water rafting, reef-rafting, sea kayaking, hot air ballooning, sky diving, Four Wheel Drive tours, horse riding, and fishing to name but a few. In 2004 they carried over 150,000 adrenaline charged passengers on our various tours, which serves to highlight that adventure tourism is no longer just a special interest activity, and indeed forms the basis of many tour itineraries. They also have a range of extended packages suitable for the independent traveller. These packages incorporate tours throughout the East Coast of Queensland.

In November 1998, they launched their new balloon, which is the largest commercial balloon in the world. Raging Thunder Balloon Adventures now has a capacity to carry 104 people per day making it the largest Hot Air Balloon company in Australia. Their unique flying conditions provide us with 98 per cent tour reliability. This statistic is unmatched anywhere in the world within the Ballooning industry. Raging Thunder remains at the forefront of ballooning from their in-house pilot training programs to the state of the art equipment, thus ensuring a high level of service and product quality. The Directors of Raging Thunder Adventures have placed great emphasis on safety and training. They have pioneered many of the Swiftwater Rescue procedures and techniques used around the world. Their guides are trained to this high standard which includes Wilderness Medivac training, by their wholly owned subsidiary, Rescue 3 Australia; a franchise of the world renowned Rescue 3 International.

Tully River White Water Rafting Full Day ex Cairns and Northern Beaches

Raging Thunder Adventures are the pioneers of rafting in Queensland, Australia! 22 years later they continue to raft the Mighty Tully River, regarded as the best rafting river across Australia and New Zealand. The Tully River is situated in stunning World Heritage Listed rainforest and offers an awesome day out rafting grade three to four rapids over five hours. Enjoy a well earnt barbecue lunch alongside the river bank. Expect the need to hold on at times on these moderate technical rapids, however no experience is necessary, most of your fellow rafters will never have rafted before. A sense of adventure is a must!

30 Minute Balloon Flights ex Cairns and Northern Beaches

Let Raging Thunder introduce you to the safe and exciting sport of ballooning, in a spectacular dawn trip which highlights the diverse eco-culture of the Cairns region. As the sun rises the pilots gently lift off and quietly glide the balloons over the panorama of the Cairns Highlands (also known as the Atherton Tablelands). Have fun helping pack-up their giant Balloons before boarding the coach back to Mareeba for a comfort stop. Breakfast is available for purchase here while you view your morning's photos. They then return you to your accommodation in time to enjoy the rest of your day.

Barron River White Water Rafting ex Cairns and Northern Beaches

Cairns is lucky enough to have the Barron River located just 20 minutes away, with their half day white water raft adventure leaving you plenty of time to enjoy other activities on the same day. The rapids on the Barron River are of grade two to three which means they are simple technical rapids with a need to manoeuvre the raft, which results in great rafting for first timers. Please use this as a guide when choosing your level of adrenaline rush, but remember that experience is not necessary; in fact most guests have never been rafting before.
