This delightful walk takes you through some of the best rainforest in Brisbane Forest Park. The rainforest is more varied here, with strangler figs, buttressed trees, stinging trees and large rainforest trees such as white booyong.
After walking for about 500 metres you will come to a clearing beside the road - Western Window - with a magnificent view over the scenic rim of mountains to the west. You can see Cunningham's Gap and Mount Barney on a clear day. Walk down some steps and you will reach a junction.
... moreIf you take the track to the right, you will walk below the rocky basalt cliffs and through wet sclerophyll forest and rainforest.
... lessThe first part of the track parallels the road. Watch your step, the track can be narrow. Rocks and protruding tree roots make it uneven in places. Wear insect repellent in summer to discourage leeches.
This little known track is good all year round and a cool retreat in summer.
