Travel West is a professional tour operator and licensed Travel Agent. Owners, Graham and Deb pride themselves in operating well planned tours for their clients specialising in nature-based experiences, Australian history and outback characters. For many years they have operated small personalised bus tours to Birdsville, Innamincka and the Corner Country and now offer this tour as a 4WD Motel Accommodated Tag Along.

Travel West now also arranges special experiences by air to see Central Australia and the Kimberley, Lake Eyre and the famous Birdsville Races. Personalised 4WD tours for two guests are also available, including crossing the Simpson Desert and the Darling River Run.

Graham has a faultless driving record having driven road trains through many parts of Australia and then driving touring coaches in Australia and Europe. He is passionate about the western river systems that feed into Lake Eyre and provides excellent and interesting commentary on their tours.

Deb has spent many years working in Inbound Tourism and her attention to detail in the planning of the tours is evident.

Together Graham and Deb have a more than 25 years experience in the tourism industry working in a variety of areas.

Cancellation Information:
Cancellation 45 days prior to departure there is an AUD200.00 booking fee kept. Full payment due 45 days prior to departure. Cancellation after full payment will incur 100 per cent of the total tour cost (non-refundable travel insurance recommended). A no show or failure to board will also incur 100 per cent cancellation fee.

How To Get There:
4WD tours begin in Charleville. Free parking can be arranged for caravans.

For the Lake Eyre and Birdsville Hotel in a Day ex Brisbane, the tour departs on Skytrans from the Brisbane Jet Base, Brisbane Airport. All other tours depart from Charleville. To find Skytrans at Brisbane Airport, travel along Airport Drive, turn left at the Tower into Dryandra Road.
Follow Dryandra Road and General Aviation Terminal Signs until you reach Casuarina Street. Turn left at Casuarina Street and look for the Brisbane Jet Base on right hand side.
Free street parking available. Park and walk to the Brisbane Jet Base and look for Skytrans sign. Check-in inside at the Skytrans counter.
Check-in from 6.30 a.m. until 7.00 a.m.
Door shuts on plane at 7.15 a.m. for a 7.30 a.m. departure. It's going to be a great day!!

Tariff Information:
Tours run from March until October. Accommodation is hotel or motel style. Drinks and souvenirs are not included in the tour cost. Travel expenses to and from the departure points are not included.

Four Wheel Drive Tag Along Birdsville, Innamincka and Corner Country Tour

Test your driving skills in the Simpson Desert, learn about the history of the region, the river systems and relax as Graham and Deb take care of everything you will need on your fully motel accommodated four wheel drive self drive around the outback, taking in Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales. You will be required to bring your own late model four wheel drive with reasonable ground clearance and a high/low transfer case. Extras to include are a second spare tyre fitted to rim, a fitted 40 channel UHF radio, tyre gauge, a long handle shovel and snatch strap with fittings. Their escort vehicle is fitted with a first-aid kit, satellite phone and extra recovery gear. Pets not allowed and unsuitable for children.

Four Wheel Drive Simpson Desert and Tracks Tour

This unique adventure commences at Charleville Bush Cottage, before you travel west through Quilpie, over Cooper Creek into Windorah and onto the unique town of Birdsville. Then the real adventure begins leaving Birdsville behind and traversing the sand dunes of the Simpson Desert. Experience the magic of sleeping in the Simpson Desert for two nights and travelling the Oodnadatta and Birdsville Tracks. Enjoy travel in late model Toyota Hilux with experienced guides and also stay at the famous Birdsville Hotel, underground at Coober Pedy and on a property along the Birdsville Track.

Roma Cup - 17 November 2012

Join them for the day at one of Queensland's major racing events - the Roma Cup.

Roma is renowned for its country racing and could be mistaken for being the racing capital of Queensland.

Located 550 kilometres west of Brisbane, Roma is the hub of the Maranoa. The Carnarvon ranges rise in the distance to the north and the rivers feeding into the Murray Darling Basin all begin their journeys here.

The Roma Turf Club holds seven races a year with the ""Roma Cup"" being the most dynamic event on south-west Queensland's social calendar.

The Cup is an action-packed meet in the true spirit of country racing and the locals know how to throw a good party. Fashion on the field is taken extremely seriously with the ""coat and tie"" dress standard refreshingly maintained.

Enjoy Chicken and Bubbly breakfast before our departure from the Brisbane Jet Base.
