Description
Winding through the spectacular Blackall Range, a cool retreat in the hinterland of Queensland's Sunshine Coast, the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk traverse some of Queensland's most scenic natural areas in Kondalilla and Mapleton Falls National Park and Mapleton Forest Reserve.

Walk traverses the very best of the Blackall Range with three overnight walkers' camps. Campsites must be booked in advance. Day visitors can access sections of the great walk for shorter walks. The majority of the great walk is Class Three and Four walking track standard. Walkers need a moderate level of fitness and good ankle supporting footwear.

The Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great!Walk is a clearly marked track with a generally firm and stable surface.
The 58 kilometres multi-day adventure has been broken up into three sections: Baroon, Mapleton Falls and Delicia sections. Detailed information is available on the EPA website and the EPA topographic map available for purchase.
Track conditions may worsen during bad weather conditions (such as high rainfall), making walking slower, harder and more tiring. Walking bridges have been built over some creek crossings, but not all. Do not attempt creek crossings during times of high rainfall - flash floods can occur.
Do not leave food for native birds and animals.
Obi Obi Creek flows into Baroon Pocket Dam - the main water source for Caloundra and Maroochydore. Soap, detergent, skin creams, urine and food scraps affect water purity. Hybrid toilets can be found at all walkers camps and picnic areas along the Great!Walk.
Carry gas or liquid spirit stoves for cooking, as open fires are not allowed. Mobile phone coverage on the Great Walk is unreliable. Be prepared for fire dangers. Bushfires pose a threat to walkers and can occur without warning.

Sub-tropical weather makes this area a pleasant place to visit for most of the year.

This Great! Walk track traverses several national parks, forest reserves and conservation parks. For longer walks, the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk is divided into three sections: Baroon, Mapleton Falls and Delicia.
The walks take approximately four days and are 58 kilometres in length. The start point for the walks is from the car park before the picnic area at Baroon Pocket Dam. The walks are classified as moderately difficult.
How To Get There:
Montville lies between Nambour and Kenilworth, about two hours (90 kilometres) drive north of Brisbane via the Bruce Highway. To get to the trailhead at Baroon Pocket Dam, travel west along Western Avenue from Montville township and then head south along Narrows Road.
Weather:
Between March and October is the best time of the year to walk. Avoid very hot conditions and high fire danger periods, and strong wind and high rainfall periods. Check weather conditions before you walk.
