
In 1978, the Brisbane City Council opened Queensland's first planetarium. The Planetarium is named after Sir Thomas Brisbane, a Governor of New South Wales in the 1820s.

The Planetarium is located within the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. It is a 15 minute drive from the city centre. The main car park and entrance is off Mt Coot-tha Road, Toowong. Free on-site parking, including disabled and bus parking, is available. You can catch a bus to the Planetarium. For public transport information see the translink web site.
