Children: All children are welcome.
This is a truly unique experience - the very best of nature and art in a single tour. A day you'll never forget.
Andy Goldsworthy, an artist with a passion for the environment, was the ideal choice to create a magnificent piece for this stunning location - a remote and breathtaking part of the park accessible only by high clearance 4wd vehicles over a series of three river crossings.
The Strangler Cairn, made from granite and slate sourced from a local quarry, was also the ideal piece to create. On the very top of the Cairn is a planting of a small strangler fig - Ficus watkinsiana - which will, over time, send out ground-seeking aerial roots which will eventually strangle the Cairn - hence its name.
In addition to the Strangler Cairn you'll be amazed at the rich diversity of plants that form the basis of a living, breathing wilderness; a mosaic of insects, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds; many unique to the area. Brightly coloured fungi and a carpet of emerald moss-covered logs will enthral you with their beauty.
