Description
Lindeman Island National Park is set like a green emerald in an indigo ocean. High up on the plateau of the island this walk is the stage for exhilarating views to other islands and the distant mainland.
The Aboriginal people, who visited these islands, knew Lindeman as 'Yara-Kimba', the place of snapper and bream. Historically, frequent burning maintained the grasslands on Lindeman Island, so the track to Mt Oldfield is expansive and easy going. The vegetation varies from open forest to rainforest, grasslands and wetlands.
Track: 7.2 kilometres return. Allow three and a half hours. Grade: moderate.

How To Get There:Beyond the Whitsunday Passage lies the Lindeman group of islands. Access is by commercial or private boats or aircraft from Airlie Beach, Shute Harbour or Mackay.
