Description

Koala Golf provide escorted golf tours, accommodation packages, and self drive tours to all the courses within Cairns, Port Douglas, Townsville and Far North region.

Escorted Tours driver/guides provide expert local knowledge on all courses and conditions and give commentary on local sights and attractions whilst on route to the golf courses. They have an excellent range of rental equipment available, for the beginner through to advanced golfers.

'Stay and Play' packages include accommodation, can be tailored to suit individual requests and cater for all budgets. Non player partners are welcome, reef, rainforest, and sightseeing tours and activities can also be arranged. 'Self Drive' packages include rental vehicles and golf vouchers for those who like to do their own thing. For anything 'golfing' Koala Golf are your one stop shop.

From the championship courses of Cairns and Port Douglas to the 'Outback' feel of the kangaroo studded fairways at Mareeba, or overnight tour up to the Cooktown Golf Club, there is something for everyone.

Mareeba Golf Club

Mareeba Golf Club is a little over one hour drive from Cairns and averages 300 sunny days per year, so rain is rarely a problem. With wide, lush and gently undulating fairways, this relatively flat course is abundant with native trees and wildlife, especially the grey kangaroos which need to be cleared from the fairways to begin play! This is a typical Australian course with a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere suitable to all players. Included in this tour is a Golfer's lunch pack.

Cairns Golf Club

Established in 1930, Cairns Golf Club's 18 hole layout was redesigned by Ross Watson in 1992.

Set amid spectacular mountain scenery, the course features generous fairways and large greens making it player-friendly for members and social players. However for all major events the course proves a more challenging test. With the tees back and the pins tricky suddenly friendly becomes mean and the course proves that it can bite back.

One of the standout holes is the par three 11th. This hole presents golfers with a 151 metre carry over a large lake to a green backdropped by the course's signature pandanus palms.

Gordonvale Golf Club

Situated 20 kilometres south of Cairns at the foot of Walsh's Pyramid you will find picturesque Gordonvale Golf Club. This typical Australian country style golf course, with fully stocked pro shop and light refreshments available from the clubhouse. The course is located on and beside the local horse racing track and also beside the local sugar mill. On a good day during the cane processing season a lovely sweet smell blows over most of the course. There are also good views of the notable local land feature Walsh's Pyramid. The course is made up of six Par 3s ranging from 110-180 metre, eight Par 4s ranging from 275-425 metres and four Par 5s ranging from 440-525 metres, and the greens are 328 bermuda couch grass.

Mirage Country Club

The Mirage Country Club is one of the most spectacular resort courses in the world. It was designed by Champion golfer Peter Thomson and features two kilometres of absolute beach frontage. It also boasts Australia's only night lit aquatic driving range.

The course has also hosted the Super Skins Game which features some of the worlds finest golfers. The one hour transfer from Cairns City is along the most scenic coastline that the North has to offer.

Cooktown Golf Club Overnight

Departing from Cairns and Port Douglas, spend the morning travelling along the Bloomfield Track and through the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest. Arrive in Cooktown in the afternoon with time to explore, then transfer to your overnight accommodation. Day two and you are off to Australia's northern most course on the east coast. Constructed on natural sand belt, the course has been built in the tropical bushland that boarders Walker Bay and the

Annan River. With the imposing Mount Cook as the constant backdrop, the natural beauty of the surrounds make this links type course a must for golf adventurers. Afternoon and you are heading south along the inland road stopping along the way to take in the sights before arriving in back Cairns.
