Jumrum Creek Conservation Park protects a small pocket of rainforest on the edge of Kuranda village. A 750 metres path and boardwalk winds through the rainforest to the creek and then climbs up to meet Barron Falls Road.
This little patch of rainforest feels quite remote from the village, just a short distance away. At times, spectacled flying-foxes camp here, chattering and squabbling in the tree tops.
It is possible to return via the same route or to take a longer loop walk by crossing Barron Falls Road and following the Jungle Walk and then the River Walk along the bank of the Barron River to Coondoo Street, near the railway station.
This circuit is an easy 1 hour stroll suitable for the whole family.
There are signposts at each section of the walk.
The dry season from May to October is the best time to visit.
