Description
Located in the Binna Burra section of Lamington National Park, this circuit takes walkers through a fascinating variety of forest and heath. Daves Creek circuit descends through the head of Nixons Creek out into Daves Creek country.
The track passes through several distinctive vegetation types: warm and cool subtropical rainforest along the Border Track; warm temperate rainforest containing many examples of ancient angiosperms such as coachwood in the Nixon Creek headwaters; and wet sclerophyll forest with giant New England ash around Nagarigoon clearing.

Daves Creek circuit features diverse vegetation, tree fern gullies, spectacular views, wildflowers and the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. If you intend walking this entire circuit, walk in a clockwise direction and exit via Elabana Falls and Picnic Rock. Branch off the Border Track 2.3 kilometres from the entrance and descend through the head of Kurraragin Valley out into Daves Creek country. The track circuit passes through several distinctive vegetation types: warm and cool subtropical rainforest along the Border Track; warm temperate rainforest, containing many examples of ancient angiosperms, such as coachwood Ceratopetalum apetalum, in Nixon Creek's headwaters; and wet sclerophyll forest, with giant New England ash Eucalyptus campanulata, around the track intersection to the Ships Stern circuit.
Daves Creek circuit is approximately 12 kilometres long, of moderate degree of difficulty and should take between four and five hours to complete. This is a relatively easy walk for those with a moderate level of fitness and bushwalking experience. Watch your step - the track is uneven and a bit slippery in places. The return steady climb can be tiring.
How To Get There:
Binna Burra is via Beechmont, about 95 kilometres or a 90 minute drive from Brisbane, or 70 minutes from Broadbeach, about 38 kilometres to Beechmont via Nerang. From the north, take Pacific Motorway exit 34 and route 92 to Tamborine, and route 90 to Canungra then 18 kilometres to Beechmont. From Broadbeach, take the Nerang turn off from the Pacific Highway (exit 71) and follow the signs to Beechmont and Binna Burra. The final section of the 10 kilometres drive is very narrow.
