Description
Combo's waterholes reputedly inspired Banjo Paterson to write Waltzing Matilda, Australia's most popular folk song. The waterholes are a refuge for wildlife during dry times, just as they provided shady picnic spots in 1895 for stagecoach passengers and residents of neighbouring stations.
The self-guided Combo Waterhole trail crosses some of Diamantina's River channels on historic stone-pitched overshots built more than a century ago across. The trail passes through Mitchell grass downs and winds along coolibah-lined channels. Interpretive signs along the way explore the area's rich natural and cultural heritage.

Visit between April and September during the cooler parts of the day. October to March is very hot (up to 50 degrees celsius) and the peak rainy season.
How To Get There:
Combo Waterhole Conservation Park is just south of Kynuna and 132 north-west of Winton. Turn west off the Landsborough Highway and follow the short drive to the park. Small amounts of rain can make roads impassable and a four-wheel-drive is recommended in dry weather.
