Description
The adventurous Blue Arrow Circuit loops through Mount Whitfield Conservation Park. It is a continuation of the shorter Red Arrow Circuit and branches off beyond a lookout that provides views of Cairns city.
A lookout on Mt Lumley Hill, at 325 metres above sea level, offers fine views along the coast to the north of Cairns. Along the walk you will traverse rainforest, open woodlands and creek crossings and are likely to see Australian brush-turkeys and other wildlife.

To ensure your visit is fun and comfortable, try to visit between April and October when the weather and track conditions are at their best. Daytime temperatures and humidity can be high at any time of the year. The Blue Arrow Circuit features: wildlife watching, rainforests and fabulous lookout. The circuit is 6.6 kilometres long, with a hard classification and will take between four and five hours to complete.
This walk can be rough and steep in places and is recommended only for fit hikers. You should carry water and wear strong shoes. Allow plenty of time to return before it gets dark. Do not start this walk after 2.00 p.m.
The Blue Arrow Circuit begins near the conservation park entrance on Collins Avenue, between the Tanks Arts Centre and the Gondwanan Evolutionary trail. At the top of the Red Arrow Circuit, a short 0.6 kilometres track leads to the Blue Arrow Circuit.
How To Get There:
Mt Whitfield is next to the Flecker Gardens, less than five kilometres north of the Cairns city centre. Head north along Sheridan Street (Captain Cook Highway) and turn left into Collins Avenue. The park is signposted. There are regular bus services.
