Description
The plateau of Kroombit Tops National Park stands 400 metres above sourrounding areas to the east and features sandstone escarpments, gorges, creeks, waterfalls and a variety of vegetation types.
This large park protects the headwaters of many creeks and provides a refuge for tropical and subtropical rainforest plants and animals close to the northern or southern limit of their usual range.

Walk Hints
Few facilities are provided and most of the park is rugged wilderness.
Mobile phone reception points are signposted throughout the forest.
Rough tracks lead to other features but should only be attempted with Ranger advice. Be prepared for leeches if you walk through the rainforest.
Best Time To Go
During summer, walk in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat.

How To Get There:
The main access to Kroombit Tops is from the north via the Tableland Road, which is suitable for conventional vehicles.
From Calliope follow the Dawson Highway south-west towards Biloela for 4 kilometres and turn left onto Many Peaks Road. Follow this road for 1.5 kilometres then turn right onto Tableland Road. The park boundary is a further 50 kilometres along this road.
An alternative route exists via the Cedervale and Clewleys Gap roads from Ubobo. This road is rough and is only accessible by 4WD in good weather conditions. Go for a 90-minute scenic drive on a loop road through the park. Most of this circuit is four-wheel-drive only. Allow two hours for the drive.
