The Woodgate section of Burrum Coast National Park conserves essential habitat for wildlife of the coastal vegetation communities. It starts with a boardwalk experience through a melaleuca (tea tree) swamp. This part is wheelchair accessible and offers a very enjoyable 20-minute return experience for visitors with restricted mobility.
The two hour Banksia Track circuit then takes over through melaleuca swamp, open forest into palm forest and finally through wallum heath where wildflowers bloom between August and October. Timing a visit to see the wildflowers is very rewarding for photographers, birdwatchers and those interested in native plants.
Please do not feed the Kangaroos. Prevent erosion by keeping to the formed tracks. Wear a hat, sunscreen and carry water.
