Description

Every Thursday, market day the Whistle Stop rail museum at the old Maryborough railway station is open with guided tours. A dedicated team of volunteers run the 'MaryAnn' Steam Train. It operates every Thursday along an industrial line in the historic Queens Park, beside the Mary River between Sussex Street and Macalister stations. It also operates on the last Sunday of each month with 'M.E.L.S.A. who has miniature trains in the park. A fee of a gold coin applies for the guided tours, with a small fee for a train ride also.

    Children:
    Children are welcome with a model train at the museum and the 'Mary Ann' train ride.

    Disabled:
    Ramps are available at the museum and on the train with room for four wheelchairs.

    Pets Allowed:
    Yes. Posts are available for tying up dogs. A 'Doggy Doo' dispenser is available.

    Further Details:
    Museum contains items plus photos and plans of railway items of the past. There is an operating model train on display as well as models of steam engines. The ride on the 'Mary Ann' is 25 minutes in duration.

    How To Get There:
    The 'Mary Ann' operates in Queens Park at the Sussex Street railway station on Thursdays. On Sundays the 'Mary Ann' operates from Macalister Street station at the Muddy Waters restaurant end. The museum is situated in the old station office building beside the station.

    Inclusions:
    A gold coin donation is appreciated for entrance into the museum.
