Description

A highlight for all visitors to Stradbroke Island is the North Gorge Headland walk that offers spectacular views, from the rocky outcrops to 32 kilometres of white sandy beach. The view over the gorge is breathtaking and Point Lookout, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, is perfect for whale watching (between June - November) and dolphin spotting.

    A highlight for all visitors to Stradbroke Island is the North Gorge Headland walk that offers spectacular views, from the rocky outcrops to 32 kilometres of white sandy beach. The view over the gorge is breathtaking and Point Lookout, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, is perfect for whale watching (between June - November) and dolphin spotting. The walk commences on an unsealed track and then a wooden boardwalk. A variety of marine and bird life can often be spotted and at various locations along the trail, benches are provided so that you can sit back and enjoy the beautiful panoramic views. It is also the perfect location to watch a sunrise or sunset. It is recommended that when undertaking the walk, which takes about 20 to 30 minutes, follow the designated walking tracks to ensure personal safety. North Stradbroke Island can be reached by vehicle ferry and water taxi from Cleveland, with public transport from Dunwich to Point Lookout. It is located 61 kilometres (approximately two hours) from the Brisbane Central Business District.
