The Gold Coast Film Festival is an annual celebration of screen culture which runs for 10 days.
It includes:
Queensland Showcase - cinema screenings of independent films shot in Queensland.
International and Australian pre-release films.
Asia Pacific Screen Award winning films.
Cool Japan: a screen culture program designed to celebrate Japan's creative industries.
In addition the festival hosts free filmmaking workshops and runs a free outdoor screening program oriented towards children's and family films. 75 per cent of Queensland's film industry is located on the Gold Coast, and this event seeks to be the flagship of and porthole to that industry.
In 2012 the GCFF will have many exciting guest speakers including science fiction writer Alan Dean Foster, Surf Film Maker Jack McCoy, Actor Shane Rangi (Spartacus) and Anime film makers from Japan.
