Lucas Estate is one of the most awarded wineries in Queensland. In 2009, Louise Samuel, the winemaker, was given the award for ""Technical Excellence in Queensland Winemaking"", the same year that The Gordon won the Best Shiraz in Queensland Trophy. In 2011 Lucas Estate won seven Gold Medals and three Trophies, plus a number of Silver and Bronze medals.
... moreThe winery is part of the Strangebird trail as Tempranillo, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc are made. All wine is made on site with Estate or local grapes.
The cellar door houses a cafe, bookshop artwork displays. Tastings are offered of local produce including Mt. Stirling olives and oils. These products are also used in the kitchen where all the cafe food is cooked. They cater for both meat eaters and vegetarians and they try to cook gluten and dairy free whenever possible.
Live music is played the first Sunday of the month (AUD5.00 cover charge). The ticketed event is: Granite Belt Blues on New Years Day.
The property is designated Land for Wildlife and you are likely to see Whiptail Wallabies or, if you are very lucky, koalas (four sightings as of July 2010).

Children are welcome but must be supervised at all times as Lucas Estate is a working farm.
Disabled:
Wheelchair access and disabled toilet facilities available. DIsabled parking up close to the cellar door is not marked but signage guides people to the area.
Pets Allowed:
Yes. Dogs must be on a leash as there are much loved ducks on the property.
