Description

Finch Hatton Gorge is located within the Eungella National Park and is a spectacular piece of tropical rainforest, interspersed by pristine rock pools and waterfalls. The Gorge is one of the most popular fresh water swimming holes in the region with locals and visitors alike. Imagine swimming in a clear rock pool as water cascades down from tall boulders and large rainforest trees tower above. Finch Hatton Gorge is also home to some very rare and unique flora and fauna such as the rare gastric brooding frog and the orange sided skink.

There is two main bushwalks that lead to these pristine rock pools and waterfalls, that both leave from the picnic area. The first track is 1.6 kilometres long and leads to the 'Araulen Falls', which has a deep natural pool at its base, fringed by tropical rainforest. The second longer walk, Wheel of Fire, which is a further 1.1 kilometres along, is just as spectacular as the Araluen Falls.

A new attraction to Finch Hatton Gorge is Forest Flying a unique, educational eco tourism experience, suspended amidst the rainforest canopy; you can observe the beautiful flora and fauna of the rainforest from a new angle.

Location: On your way to Eungella along the Eungella Road, look for the sign to Finch Hatton Gorge approximately 10 kilometres past Pinnacle, or approximately one kilometre before you hit the township of Finch Hatton itself. The gorge road is approximately 12 kilometres long with the last six kilometres being well-kept gravel.
