Description

Opal is Australia's national gemstone. The Queensland Boulder Opal Association holds it's annual Opal Expo Festival for two days where the miners from all opal fields come to Winton to trade with national and international buyers and the public. The event starts Friday morning with trading in the Beer Garden and tailgating in the car park of the North Gregory Hotel. Friday night is a social night with the announcing of the Jewellery and Dress Designs competitions, followed by more trading and street markets from Saturday morning until lunchtime.
