... moreUrangan Pier is one of the most recognised fishing platforms along the Queensland coast, and every day it provides opportunities for a large variety of angling and leisure activities. Young families, armed with nothing more than basic gear and a packet of prawns or squid take advantage of balmy winter days to fish the inner gutter.
The first Pier Festival was held in 1986 to help raise funds to save Urangan Pier. Since then it has become a popular fishing competition held annually in September. The Pier to Pub Ocean Swim Classic is an annual swimming competition held in April since 1999.
