The cathedral takes its name from the 'cathedra' or bishop's seat, symbol of the chief pastor and teacher of the local Church. In the cathedral, parish communities find a sign of their fellowship with each other and the expression of their unity with the Church throughout the world. St Stephens Cathedral is located within walking distance from the Queen Street Mall in the City Centre. There is ample public transport to the city centre by bus, train or CityCat, and for those travelling by car, off-street parking is also available.
Group Tours are available by prior arrangement. Daily Tours are at 10.30am. Monday to Friday and after masses each Sunday.
