Shell World Yeppoon is a display of over 20,000 shells which include marine, land and fossil molluscs. The display is in an easy viewing format with all displays fully documented. These displays appeal to all visitors including children. Preserved marine life is also on display as are many varieties of corals and samples of shell craft. Groups are catered for and morning and afternoon teas can be catered for on arrangement with staff. School children of all ages are welcome. Shells and craft items are on sale at reasonable prices. Admission is a gold coin.
Children:
There is a touch display. School groups are welcomed and given information on the contents of the displays. Educational worksheets are provided on request. Keppel Bay Shell Club Inc. holds a "Kids' Club" meeting on the fourth Friday of the month from 6:30p.m. to 7:30p.m.
Disabled:
Lift at entry for wheelchair access. All displays are easy viewing for visitors in wheelchairs.
How To Get There
Visitors need to travel from Rockhampton to Yeppoon on the Scenic Highway. Shell World Yeppoon is housed in the Visitor Information Centre at the Ross Creek Roundabout at Yeppoon. As you circle the roundabout the Visitor Information Centre is clearly visible.
