Also 8.00 p.m. every Wednesday night the world famous Bufonidaes (cane toads) races are held at the Island Tavern. The event is hosted by 'Vern the Toad Master' and although it may seem a little daunting and may not be for the faint hearted, it is great family fun and definitely a night to remember.
The idea of toad racing is simple. All the toads are placed in a plastic container in the centre of a circle, and then the container is removed: the first toad to go outside the circle is the winner - a great laugh.... less
How To Get There
Follow the signs to the city centre. From there, the passenger ferry terminal is situated on Ross Creek on Sir Leslie Theiss Drive. The car/passenger ferry is also right in the city, it is on the opposite side of Ross Creek on Ross Street.
A local taxi and bus service are available at any time to transport visitors anywhere throughout the four main bays.
