Description

Capricorn Coast Trail Rides are adventures on horseback. Come along with your friends and family for an exciting, feel good, outdoor adventure with happy, well trained horses.

The scenic horse trail rides are personalised and each horse ride is tailored to suit the group. From families through to those seeking adventure, there are one, two and three hour trails which ride over the foothills of Mount Wheeler, as well as 30 minute led pony trails for younger riders.

Stroll along on horseback through unique grass tree forests and discover the hidden fantastic views of the Capricorn Coast's ancient volcanic plugs.

Glen Bridgeman and his partner Madeline Chery do their best to make you feel at home whilst horse riding, matching each rider with a horse to suit their personality and riding experience. Open weekends and everyday for Queensland school holidays.
Helmets are provided and all riders are required to wear long trousers and enclosed shoes.
For the comfort of the horses, weight limits apply.
Bookings are essential and the minimum number of riders on a trail is four (although please call if your group is less than four as we can join you with other riders).
Departure times customised to suit travelling needs.

How To Get There:
Driving from Rockampton; head north on the Bruce Highway, turning right near the Dream time Centre following the signs for Capricorn Coast and Yeppoon. Look out for a yellow billboard on the right hand side for Capricorn Coast Trail Rides, and the turn right into the Oaks Caltex Fuel Station, drive behind the building and you may park next to the horse yards.
From Yeppoon; heading out of Yeppoon on the main Yeppoon Rockhampton Road, drive for around ten kilometres until you reach the Oaks Caltex Fuel Station on your left, drive behind the building and you may park next to the horse yards.

One Hour Family Trail

The one hour trail is great for families, it is a gentle ride with an option to walk or trot (the trot option depends on individual riders ability). The ride passes through local bush up to scenic lookout and then back to the Oaks service station. It is great fun for the whole family. The trained staff chose a horse to match the ability of the rider and basic instructions is provided before the tour departs, children who require assistance are led along the trail by a staff member. There is a minimum age of six years for this trail.

Two Hour Ridge Ride

The two hour ridge ride is recommended for the beginner through to experienced adults and teenagers. The ride is long enough that beginner riders can begin to build a relationship with their horse. There are a number of areas designated to trotting for those who want to try. The ride takes you through unique grass tree forests, with scenic views over the Berseker Ranges and the regions volcanic plugs. The ride is exciting and challenging and will give you breath taking views from the top of the ridge. The recommended minimum age is 10 years for this trail.

Three Hour Adventure Trail

The three hour adventure trail is for experienced riders and those of you who are active, fit and looking for a big adventure. From the Oaks service station, the group will head to Mount Wheeler, where you will see its many different faces as you ride around its base. The trail returns via grass tree forest taking in the scenic view of the Berserker Ranges and the local volcanic plugs.

Pony Trails

Led Pony Trails, these are for little cowboys and cowgirls. It is a 30 minute led pony trail, through the bush and around the Oaks Dam, Parents get to join in the fun by assisting leading their wonderfully quiet ponies around the trail along with their staff members. Pony trails are recommended for children under 10 years. They have limited departure times, so booking is essential.

Riding Lessons

Their riding lessons for children are every Saturday and Sunday morning. The children learn both riding skills as well as the skills they will need to eventually look after their own horse. Whether the children ride with them regularly or just come for a visit they are bound to have lots of horsey fun.

Extra Classes through the school holidays.

Minimum age of seven years for the riding lessons.

Friday Adult riding Club

No previous riding experience necessary, just a fun, social morning learning about horses and trail riding for the grown ups. They will teach you how to saddle up and groom your horse, followed by a trail ride where we will improve your riding skills along the way. Ideal for those riders who loved horses as a child and haven't had time since starting families!

Adult riding club will be on Fridays whilst the children are at school starting around 9.00 a.m. finishing around 11.30 a.m.
