Description

Described as the Melbourne Cup of the Outback, Birdsville gets set to hold its annual race meeting. The 12 race programs features top horses from all over Australia competing for the coveted XXXX Gold Birdsville Cup and in excess of AUD100,000 in prize monies. There will be street stalls and Fred Brophy's Boxing. Arrive early to secure a good campsite and enjoy all the entertainment in the lead up to the big weekend. The races culminate with a giant auction on Saturday night, raising money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Attracting visitors from all over the world, the Birdsville Races 2012 is an event that you will be talking about for years to come.

How To Get There:
All roads leading into Birdsville are unsealed and demand driver concentration. Caution and adequate preparation are necessary when travelling on outback roads. Please ensure that excess fuel, water, food, medical supplies and spare tyres are carried in case of emergency. A AUD25.00 (including GST) per person landing/access fee applies for all persons utilising Birdsville Aerodrome during the Birdsville Races period.
