Description

A Rockhampton Art Gallery exhibition. From crabs to coral, and pelicans to prawns, life on the sea, or beneath the waves, has long been a source of inspiration for artists. Such curious sea creatures, but also the patterns and shapes of the sea are reinterpreted through ceramics and glass, paintings and prints. The Sea showcases a selection of watery works from Rockhampton Art Gallery's collection, including Len Cook's reef inspired ceramics, and Inga Svendsen's abstract dunes. The Sea also explores how artists engage with this perpetual muse from the shoreline, such as John Bellany's Call of the Sea print series, and Davida Allen's paintings of the Capricorn Coast.
