A National Gallery of Australia touring exhibition

Stars of the Tokyo Stage reveals the dynamic world of Japan's kabuki theatre through the superb actor prints created by Natori Shunsen (1886-1960). Kabuki actors - the movie stars of their day - were adored for their flamboyant performances, extraordinary characters and colourful personal lives.

Shunsen's fine prints will be shown alongside colourful, and vibrant prints advertising kabuki theatre. Drawn from the National Gallery of Australia's collection, this is the first solo exhibition of Shunsen's art to be held outside Japan since the 1930s.
