Description

Shockwave is a festival for the young and the young at heart. It is an annual regional arts festival being held in Blackall in Central Western Queensland.

Shockwave attracts young people and families from across Queensland. Confirmed headline acts for 2013 include alternative pop sister duo Corinthia.

See circus that moves the heart, mind and soul with the exceptional Circa, and enjoy one of Australia's premier spoken word presenters - slam poet Ghostboy aka David Stavanger, thanks to the State Library of Queensland.

Also, participate in a huge range of workshops from music, visual art, textiles, dance and a whole lot more. Young people from across the central west will perform as part of a massive live stage line-up and the youth art gallery in Blackall's Memorial Hall will remain open until Thursday, 30 May 2013.

Children:
Shockwave is a youth led weekend event for children, young people and the whole family to enjoy.

Disabled:
The festival site has full wheelchair access and facilities. Creative activities will also be delivered that are accessible to the visual and hearing impaired.

Pets Allowed:
Yes. Situated predominantly in a skate park, dogs are welcome to share the festival space if kept on leads and cleaned up after.

Local free accommodation for travelling community groups can be arranged by contacting Alison via the email contact.
Qantas fly direct to Blackall from Brisbane (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). To arrange airport pick up in Blackall contact Alison.
Shockwave will go ahead in wet weather with indoor arrangements.

How To Get There:
The Blackall Memorial Hall and Skate Park is on Short Street, just off the main street of Blackall. Look for the huge Shockwave banner and listen for the roar of the crowd!
