Description
Welcome to the 'Outback Oktoberfest'. The event concept started in 2010 as part of the Angel Flight Trailblazers event and is now firmly on Jundah's calendar and coincides with the annual horse racing carnival.
Last year the town's population of 80 grew to around 500, with visitors keen to participate in the outback German-themed beer festival. People from Germany joined the hundreds of visitors in Jundah and were keen to enjoy a little Jundah-style, German culture. Sheep also raced down the main street of Jundah as part of the event; all in the name of German King Ludwig who lived 200 years ago! The sheep races represent the original horse races that occurred at traditional Oktoberfests in Germany. There will be traditional costumes again worn by all men, women and children and all the traditional food and music. There are prizes to be won for the best costume daily.
