Spirit of the Rainforest Tour

Spirit of the Rainforest Tour

For thousands of years their Ancestors have walked through the rainforest across mountainous regions, creeks and rivers via Aboriginal trading routes. These trading routes are an essential resource that sustained life for their people. In Far North Queensland alone, early explorers recorded and confirmed these trading routes through their research and expedition work.

Ingan's -Spirit of the Rainforest Tour takes you deep into the mountainous region of the Tully Valley. As an important visitor to this country you will see the landscape and the rainforest environment through their eyes. Learn their stories, listen to their ancestors speak to them through a very special bird and understand their way of life.

Ingan River Walk

Ingan River Walk

Embark on a journey, to a time before their Ancestors had contact from the outside world. Experience how life existed on the creek banks of the beautiful Davidson Creek for their people - the Jirrbal people.

This tour will have you walking upstream in knee high water of the Davidson Creek. Whilst you listen to your guide your mind begins to open and understand what the traditional inhabitants know intimately about their environment. You will sense a spiritual connection to the Davidson Creek as you float back down the river on inflatable tyre tubes.

This tour provides an option of two interactive cultural activities (string making or weaving) whilst sitting under the shade of the trees in the campsite alongside the beautiful guda waterhole.
