The 'Harvest' exhibition is a celebration of food in art. With over 150 works from the Gallery's Collection, 'Harvest' includes magnificent still lifes from the seventeenth century to today, contemporary photography, bold video works, and dramatic large-scale installations, with major new acquisitions by Argentine artist Tomás Saraceno. The exhibition examines the ways land cultivation, food, food products and systems of distribution have, throughout history, been central to the formation of world views and artistic expression.... more
Coinciding with the exhibition is 'Harvest: Food on Film', showcasing food in contemporary filmmaking at the Gallery's Australian Cinémathèque. There are also a range of programs and events involving artists, curators, writers, chefs and academics, including the popular GOMA Talks series (3, 17 and 31 July).
