The Wagawn track is located in the Binna Burra section of Lamington National Park. This stunning national park boasts extensive walking tracks along the McPherson Range, which allow visitors to explore the area's forests, creeks and waterfalls. Dramatic lookouts afford views over the Gold Coast, south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales.

The track winds up Mount Hobwee passing the Araucaria Lookout track on the left, through abundant stands of Helmholtzia lilies and climbs through dense rainforest to a junction where the options are left to Wagawn and right to Mount Hobwee. The Wagawn track descends steadily to the Lookout and its views of Springbrook, the Numinbah Valley and Mount Warning.

The altitude of Lamington National Park provides a great escape from the Summer heat, although winter walkers are rewarded with clear views and a lesened chance of rain and leeches.
General Comments
The Wagawn trail features dense sub-tropical rainforests, Antarctic Beech and Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. This track also branches off the Mount Hobwee circuit, 2 kilometres from the Border Track junction. Garragoolba lookout features uninterrupted views of Springbrook, the Tweed Valley and Mount Warning. Return to Binna Burra along the same track.
The trail is 18 kilometres long, with a moderate degree of difficulty and should take approximately eight hours to complete. Be aware of leeches in summer, particularly after rain. The weather can change quickly so bring wet-weather gear and warm clothing.
How To Get There
Binna Burra is via Beechmont, about 95 kilometres or 90 minutes' drive from Brisbane, or less than an hour from the Gold Coast via Nerang. Take the Nerang turn off from the Pacific Highway (exit 71) and follow the signs to Beechmont and Binna Burra.
