Secrets of the Scenic Rim Short Break

Binna Burra Walking Holiday

Take a short break in South East Queensland's Scenic Rim. Stretching south west of Brisbane, this arc of sweeping ranges, river valleys, lush rainforests and quaint country towns is the perfect short break destination. Walk amongst spectacular landforms, sample fresh produce and meet artists and local characters along the way.

Travelling from Brisbane via the country towns of Kalbar and Harrisville, explore short walks in Main Range National Park. In and around the lively town of Boonah, enjoy the combination of good food, wine, excellent local art along with easy walks in Moogerah Peaks National Park. A morning cooking class, contrasts with creek walks and mountain lookouts in the Mt Barney area. Finally you'll come to the south eastern side of the Scenic Rim stopping for short walks and culinary delights on Tamborine Mountain before enjoying the best of Lamington National Park. Based at Binna Burra Lodge, walks to Antarctic Beech trees, the Coomera River or lookout points are all on your doorstep. You'll return to Brisbane via Beechmont with views back over the mountains.

Outback North Queensland is a land of rocky red ridges, abundant wetlands, lush gorges, rippling grasslands and country towns.

Join a 16-day journey from Cairns to the Gulf of Carpentaria, south to Mt Isa and back to the coast. Local guides introduce the fascinating world of Undara Volcanic National Park as you explore the world's longest single vent lava flow. Then board the historic Gulflander for the train ride from Croydon to Normanton. Further north is Karumba, the Gulf of Carpentaria's major fishing port. A sunset cruise on the Norman River is a chance to spot saltwater crocodiles and migratory birds among the mangroves. Boodjamulla National Park features Lawn Hill Gorge, palm-fringed waterholes and sheer sandstone walls. Canoe the waterways, swim in rock-pools and walk to viewing points and Aboriginal rock art. Visit the laboratory at the Riversleigh Fossils Centre in Mt Isa and take an optional guided tour of one of the world's largest underground mines. At the John Flynn museum in Cloncurry, experience the history of the Flying Doctor Service. In the small town of Richmond, search for dinosaur fossils at the Richmond Marine Fossil Museum. Your tour ends in the capital of North Queensland, Townsville.

Australia's Green Cauldron

Northern New South Wales Green Cauldron Walking Tour

The Rainbow Region of Northern New South Wales is an eclectic mix of interesting walks, creative country towns and a relaxed ambience at every turn. This six-day tour explores the national parks around Mt Warning while based at Gymea Eco Retreat and Spa. This eco-retreat provides a chance to rejuvenate and re-energise as you soak up the relaxed natural environment. Stretching along the western rim of the Tweed Caldera, the Border Ranges National Park is accessed via the Tweed Range Road and enjoy a series of short walks. Nearby, the Tweed Pinnacle lookout gives you a bird's eye view of the Tweed Caldera, a 23 million year old shield volcano. On the southern side of the caldera, the Nightcap Ranges are a walker's paradise and part of the Gondwana Rainforests World Heritage area. Walk sections of the Historic Nightcap Track which leads to hidden waterfalls, palm valleys, misty lookouts and lush rainforest. The last walk leads to a dramatic lookout over Minyon Falls. The journey will include brief visits to the local villages of Uki, Nimbin and Mullumbimby, taking advantage of any local markets and events that happen along the way.
