Description
The Gold Coast Oceanway is a 36 kilometre network of pathways along beaches from the Gold Coast Seaway (The Spit) to the Point Danger Lighthouse (Coolangatta). The pathways provide healthy and environmentally-friendly ways for pedestrians and cyclists to explore the renowned beaches of the Gold Coast.
The Oceanway provides access to a wide range of coastal environments including spectacular coastal vistas, beaches, headlands, mangroves, dunes and Littoral Rainforest.

Children:
Children are welcome. There are high quality playgrounds for children of all ages and abilities at regular intervals along the Gold Coast Oceanway. Lifeguards patrol flagged swimming areas along the Oceanway. There are sheltered areas suitable for swimming with younger children at the Broadwater, Currumbin and Tallebudgera Estuary and the more protected ocean beaches at Greenmount, Rainbow Bay and Burleigh.
Disabled:
There is access for guests with a disability. The Gold Coast Oceanway won the 2005 Queensland Award for services for people with a disability. The pavements provide high quality access for people of all abilities. There are disability viewing platforms allowing access over the sand for less mobile people. There are regular toilets and car parking for people with a disability along the Oceanway.
Pets Allowed:
Yes. Pets are allowed. Dogs are welcome on a leash along all of the Gold Coast Oceanway (there is a short diversion inland around the Burleigh National Park area which is off limits to dogs). There are some off-leash areas for dogs along the Oceanway including sandy beaches at Currumbin and The Spit.

The 36 kilometres Gold Coast Oceanway is located along the mainland beachfront of Gold Coast City in Queensland, Australia. The Oceanway can be enjoyed by pedestrians or cyclists starting at any point and travelling in either direction. Check out the Gold Coast events calendar for major events including wintersun, schoolies, Australian Surf lifesaving championships, surfing events and the Indy carnival. The Gold Coast Oceanway will remain open during major events, but travel times may be affected by larger crowds. While many urban sections of the Oceanway are well lit for usage after dark, suburban areas have lower levels of lighting and there is no lighting provided in non-urban sections including Currumbin, Burleigh National Park and the Spit. Sections of the Oceanway near coastal cliffs may close during periods of heavy rain, but inland diversions will be in place.
