From Cairns to Cooktown over corrugated fire trails, the forbidding landscape of rocky service roads without an inch of shade, through the outback, in the Queensland October heat. In nine days. That's the Crocodile Trophy for you.
This years 18th Crocodile Trophy will see internationally renowned cyclists and champions as well as some of Australia's most determined and skilled mountain bikers complete the challenging stage race. For stages one and two not only the Crocodile Trophy racers are in for a treat - anyone can join them at a spectator-friendly lap race at the World Cup track in Smithfield and on the second stage from Cairns to Lake Tinaroo for two public events with local hosting club Cairns MTB.
General Comments
The race starts at the Cairns Esplanade Lagoon, 9.00am 20 October 2012. The race finishes on Grassy Hill in Cooktown, midday 28 October 2012.

Entry for spectators is free and they encourage both locals and visitors to cheer the riders on as they tackle the toughest journey in the world of mountain biking.
