Ballancar is a 2,300 hectare sheep and cattle property located near Inglewood in Southern Queensland. Significant evidence of past Aboriginal occupation can still be found on Ballancar in relatively undisturbed conditions. Ballancar Cultural Heritage offers guided bushwalks to introduce visitors to this archaeology and the cultural environment. The tours provide an introduction to stone tools and other aspects of Aboriginal life and landscape management.

In addition to its aboriginal archaeology, Ballancar has an abundance of native birds and animals, and all the peace and quiet a visitor could wish for.

Ballancar Cultural Heritage Tours

Half-day Walking Tour

Half-day walks will generally visit two or three camp sites with a variety of stone tools and scarred trees or earth ovens. Visitors will be able to examine various tools and the cores from which tools were manufactured. Walks are designed to introduce the visitor to the environment in which the traditional owners made their home and the resources on which they depended.

The bird and animal life generally encountered on walks adds variety to the experience.

Half-day walks cover a total distance of about three kilometres and will take about three hours, allowing time to explore sites and other features of interest along the track.

A light morning or afternoon tea is included in each half-day walk.

AUD120 for 2 persons (AUD60 per person). Half-day walks will cover about three kilometres and visit two or three camp sites. Walk duration approximately three hours. Light morning or afternoon tea included.


Converted shearers' quarters

Overnight accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Afternoon or morning archaeological walk. Other activities by arrangement. Tour informarion is as for half day tour. Accommodation is in converted and modernised shearers' quarters.
