Experience the difference! Daintree River Experience's modern boat is specifically designed to give greater stability for camera work, has well-padded, swivel seats for just eight to ten passengers and a versatile retractable roof, catering for all weather conditions. Their cruises are longer than most at two hours, allowing time to explore one or more of the Daintree River's beautiful tributaries to maximize your chances of seeing the more elusive species. Morning and evening departures are timed to coincide with peak bird activity and to give the photographers the best light.

Daintree River Experience is located on Barratt Creek, three kilometres before the Daintree Village. Tours operate in all seasons and offer you the chance to sit back and relax in the comfort of your own Daintree River cruise tailor-made for any occasion.

In addition to their regular Sunrise and Sunset cruises, they offer tailor-made cruises for all occasions. Talk to them about taking you to some of the seldom-visited places on the river.
Perhaps upstream through rolling farmland interspersed with creeks which cut through patches of dense rainforest. Maybe a trip towards the mouth of the River to look for Beach Stone Curlew, Collared Kingfisher, Mangrove Robin or shorebirds on sand-flats at low tide. Seasonally large colonies of roosting Spectacled and/or little Red Flying Foxes can be found and often, crocodiles inhabiting the quieter reaches of the mangrove systems near the river mouth.

Sunrise Cruising

Get up with the birds and experience the peace and coolness of the early morning on their Sunrise Cruise. Smell the freshness of the rainforest in the rising mist, see the wildlife warming up, getting moving, starting to feed and hear the birds without the roar of the traffic.

At this time of day witness perfect reflections in the river and its tributaries and make the most of the soft light for stunning photographs. A great way to start the day!

Guests are served fruit juice with delicious Anzac biscuits while out on the river. Arrangements can also be made for breakfast at one of the local Daintree restaurants after the cruise.

Sunset Cruising

After a busy day touring or exploring the rainforest, what better way to relax than to sit back in a comfortable seat and let your guide take you where neither feet nor car can go, pointing out wildlife for you to photograph if you wish. Ask questions, learn about the plants, the birds, the crocodiles or the history of the Daintree area. Or just sit back and enjoy a complimentary fruit juice and delicious biscuits while you catch the last of the day over the beautiful Daintree landscape.

Free tea or coffee is offered before boarding Explorer 11, cold soft drinks or water are available for purchase or bring your favourite wine/beer and nibbles to enjoy as you cruise gently down the peaceful river.
