A little closer to civilization, aviation buffs will get a kick out of a visit to the Qantas Founders Museum at Longreach, the birthplace of an Australian aviation icon. While in Longreach you can board a boat and take a spectacular sunset cruise on the Thomson River. To see the river at a faster pace opt instead for an airboat joy ride and really feel the wind in your hair!
