2000 years ago a handful of seedlings were competing for space on the crowded floor of the Springbrook rainforest plateau. Those seedlings grew to become the last of the mighty Antarctic Beech trees that still stand today and attract visitors from around the world.
The trees are part of The World Heritage listed Springbook National Park and just one of the many attractions of this fascinating and beautiful part of the world.
Springbrook, along with its sister park Lamington, are part of the protected Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, and treat visitors to breath-taking views and magnificent waterfalls, rainforests and deep pristine gorges. These parks are a living museum of rare environmental treasures and can be enjoyed via one of many walking trails.
From one highly memorable experience to another, at the Gold Coast’s famous theme parks you can swim with the dolphins, cuddle a koala and even get up close and personal with a brooding tiger! At an animal sanctuary you can visit injured wildlife and learn more about how they live in the wild. And in the winter months there are plenty of opportunities to spot a whale on its slow migration north.
