Bordered by 40 kilometres of pristine beaches, Hervey Bay is one of Queensland's best natural holiday destinations offering convenient access to World Heritage listed Fraser Island and Lady Elliot Island - the most southern coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef.
The waters of Hervey Bay are protected by Fraser Island and offer visitors a perfect, stinger-free swimming environment. Enjoy a variety of water sports including kayaking, yachting, diving, water and jet skiing, wind surfing and snorkeling. Boating and fishing enthusiasts can enjoy estuary, beach, jetty, reef and game fishing.
Whale Watching
Hervey Bay is Australia's whale watching capital. Between July and November whales can be seen breaching and playfully chasing each other in the warm waters off shore. Visitors can choose an aerial tour or take one of the many full-day or half-day whale watch cruises, which depart from Urangan Boat Harbour daily during the season.
Relaxing Pursuits
The Esplanade hugs the north-facing beaches and offers outdoor cafes and restaurants that create an al fresco atmosphere as well as plenty of excellent beachside picnic facilities. Enjoy a bicycle ride along the picturesque foreshore, and then on to the beautiful Botanical Gardens, the bustling Marina, or the scenic Pier area.
