Brisbane

Expect to be delighted by Brisbane's burgeoning food scene with an abundance of fresh produce from regional producers, truly delectable dining experiences, award winning bars and cosmopolitan night clubs.

You can dine out on just about any cuisine from around the world any night of the week in Brisbane and follow it with a night out on the town in one of the many popular stylish new bars.

Brisbane's dining precincts all have their own character. The Valley is home to the Emporium complex which includes everything from top line deli produce to fabulous restaurants of all styles. Nearby are a wide selection of well patronised wine bars and lounges.

Wander around Ann and Wickham Streets to discover Brisbane's edgy urban night life. You'll find bars bursting with revellers and others great for a drink with friends. Feel like dancing? Strut your stuff at an award winning night club or take the weight off your feet and sink into the lounges till the sun comes up.

In Paddington and Rosalie you'll find cute cottages and shops converted into cutting edge restaurants and a generous sprinkling of coffee shops. Close by on Park Road Milton is an eclectic selection of restaurants. Bulimba's Oxford Street is another eat street with everything from high quality dining to delicious take aways. On the north side of Brisbane, head for Racecourse Road Ascot or Kedron Brook Road Wilston to be spoilt for choice.

Multicultural West End lives up to its promise with a wide choice of authentic ethnic restaurants well patronised by locals. Stop for a drink in the groovy bars and nightclubs in Boundary Road. Over near South Bank they are dining and then dancing along Grey and Little Stanley Streets on a Friday night.

Brisbane also has a fine selection of seafood restaurants, offering stunning views along the river or across Moreton Bay. Take a drive through the bay side suburbs and stop for fresh seafood or fish and chips on the beach. For a refreshing change of pace head over to Stradbroke Island for trawler-fresh prawns, just caught fish and gourmet restaurants.

Just outside Brisbane, the Scenic Rim which takes in the towns of Ipswich, Boonah and Beaudesert, and the Brisbane and Lockyer Valleys, are fast becoming known for a growing range of boutique accommodation and wineries. Stop at a cellar door and taste the premium wines often accompanied by high quality local cheeses, olives, honey and other specialty produce.
