Beautiful Betsy is a World War II B-24D Liberator Bomber aircraft which tragically crashed in Kroombit Tops National Park in 1945, its whereabouts unknown until it was discovered in 1994.
The Beautiful Betsy Walk leads to the crash site of the bomber, on the drier western side of the plateau. Read the signs along the walk to learn more about this tragedy and how the crash site was discovered many years later.
Few facilities are provided and most of the park is rugged wilderness.
Mobile phone reception points are signposted throughout the forest.
Rough tracks lead to other features but should only be attempted with Ranger advice. Be prepared for leeches if you walk through the rainforest.
During summer, walk in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat.
